After a long wait, probably too long and drawn out, the Blue Jays are going to finally call up super-prospect Vladimir Guerrero Jr. before their game on Friday with the Oakland Athletics, as reported by Marc who has a YouTube channel called GiraffeNeckMarc. Manager Charlie Montoyo later announced the move in a press conference before their game tonight.

Guerrero, 20, began the season in Triple-A after suffering an injury in Spring Training that kept him from making the Opening Day roster (it’s not like they would have placed him on the roster, though).

Guerrero holds a career .331/.414/.529 slash line in professional baseball, for most of which he has been one of the top prospects in the game. Guerrero has also hit for absurd power, hitting 22 home runs over the last two seasons, which consist of roughly 450 at-bats.

Guerrero is the consensus number one prospect in baseball, and has been for quite some time. He was ranked first on almost every prospect ranking list that was published this Spring.

Guerrero is the prize piece in a farm system that is home to some of the game’s best prospects, including Bo Bichette, Calvin Biggio, Sean Reid-Foley, and Nate Pearson.

Guerrero will likely start on Friday in the Blue Jays’ game against Oakland.
