Kristie Ackert of the New York Daily News reports that the New York Yankees have placed Giancarlo Stanton back on the 10-day IL Wednesday, two days into his rehab assignment, this time with a strained calf.

Stanton, 29, was scratched on Tuesday from a rehab game, which was initially labeled by Aaron Boone as “tightness.”

However, it appears to be more serious than that right now as the Yankees will have to wait at least a little bit longer for their slugger to return from to the team,

The outfielder has been out since April 1, as he initially suffered a biceps strain and then later dealt with a shoulder strain.

In his first season with the Yankees in 2018, Stanton hit .266/.343/.509 with 38 home runs and 100 RBI to give himself a 127 wRC+ and 4.2 WAR.

In the previous offseason, the Yankees acquired him from the Miami Marlins in exchange for Starlin Castro, Jorge Guzman, and Jose Devers.

Stanton is in the fifth year of a 13-year, $325 million contract in which he will make $26 million this season.
