Jeff Passan of ESPN reports that the Tampa Bay Rays have acquired first baseman Jesus Aguilar from the Milwaukee Brewers in exchange for right-hander Jacob Faria. Joel Sherman of the New York Post confirmed it was a one-for-one deal.

Aguilar, 29, is in the midst of a rough season for the Brewers in which he is hitting .225/.320/.374 with eight homers and 34 RBI to give himself a 80 OPS+ and -0.3 bWAR. He has three defensive runs saved at first base with a -0.3 UZR in 2019. He will hit arbitration for the first time this offseason and is under team control through the 2022 season.

Faria, 26, has made only seven appearances (10 innings) for the Rays this season all coming out of the bullpen in which he has registered a 2.70 ERA, 5.73 FIP, 1.700 WHIP, and 11 strikeouts. In the past, though, Faria has made 26 starts at the MLB level and Brewers might look to convert him back to that role due to their holes in the rotation. He won’t hit arbitration until after the 2020 season and is under team control through the 2023 season.
