Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports that the Phillies are hiring Joe Girardi as their next manager.
The move could be announced as early as today.
Girardi had interviewed for the Mets open manager position and was a favorite of the fan base to replace Mickey Callaway.
The Mets list of candidates getting a second interview is now Luis Rojas, Tim Bogar, Derek Shelton, Carlos Beltran, and Eduardo Perez.
