The Miami Marlins have announced that they have acquired former Mets prospect Cesar Puello from the Los Angeles Angels in exchange for cash considerations.

Puello, 28, played in the Mets organization from 2008-2016, but failed to reach the majors until 2017 with the Angels and Tampa Bay Rays.

However, the outfielder got a chance to play briefly with the Angels this season and made the most of it. In 12 games, Puello hit .390/.500/.683 with three home runs and 12 RBI to give himself a 0.7 bWAR and 215 OPS+ before getting DFA’d to make room for Justin Upton when he returned from the 60-day IL.

The Marlins sported an outfield of Harold Ramirez, JT Riddle, and Austin Dean on Tuesday night while also having Curtis Granderson on the roster, giving the team little reason to not give Puello a shot.

To make room for Puello, the Marlins DFA’d Rosell Herrera.
