Jeff Passan of ESPN reports that the Texas Rangers and Kyle Gibson have agreed to a three-year, $30 million contract. Jon Morosi of MLB.com first reported that the team was closing in on a deal with the right-hander.

Gibson, 32, went 13-7 for the Minnesota Twins this past season with a 4.84 ERA, 4.26 FIP, and 1.444 WHIP. He had a career-high strikeout rate of 9.0 K/9 as compared to 3.2 BB/9.

This deal sets the market for mid-tier starting pitching options this offseason. Tim Dierkes of MLB Trade Rumors predicted that Gibson would get less in terms of money and years as he thought Gibson would get a two-year, $18 million deal.
