The Washington Nationals and RHP Daniel Hudson agreed to a two-year, $11 million contract according to Jeff Passan of ESPN. Jon Heyman of MLB Network was the first to confirm the finalized deal.

Hudson’s deal will come with $1 million in performance bonuses which he will receive based on the amount of games he finishes.

The Nationals are bringing back a reliever who gave their bullpen a big boost during their playoff push and postseason run. The Nationals acquired Hudson from the Toronto Blue Jays before the Aug. 1 trade deadline last season. In 25 regular season innings for the Nationals, he posted a 1.44 ERA, 0.880 WHIP and 3.53 FIP to go along with 23 strikeouts.

In the playoffs he delivered one shutout inning in the NL Wild Card game, 2 2/3 shutout innings in the NLDS and two shutout innings in the NLCS. During the World Series he struggled in his first two appearances by giving up seven hits, one walk and four runs in three innings, but bounced back in Game 7 and delivered a perfect inning to finish the game and clinch the team’s first World Series championship.

This move comes three days after the team officially announced their three-year deal with RHP Will Harris, who was one of the best relievers on the free agent market.
