Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic is reporting that free-agent reliever Brad Brach has agreed to a one-year deal with the Chicago Cubs. The deal guarantees Brach $3 million dollars and also includes a mutual option for 2020 with a buyout. The agreement is pending a physical.

Brach, 32, has often been connected to the Mets over the years, and he has been one of the better and most consistent relievers in the game. He has pitched 60 or more innings every season since 2015, and in that span he’s posted a 2.83 ERA, 1.225 WHIP, 149 ERA+ and 311 strikeouts in 289.0 innings pitched.

The veteran right-hander is expected to slot into a setup role with the Cubs and may even get a chance to pick up a few saves along the way.
