Mark Berman of Fox 26 reports that Astros’ shortstop Carlos Correa will be out 4-6 weeks with a fractured rib and will be placed on the 10-day IL, with the team calling up Myles Straw to take his roster spot.

Correa, 24, is hitting .295/.360/.547 with 11 home runs and 35 RBI this season to give himself a 143 wRC+ and 1.8 fWAR.

On the defensive side, Correa has registered a -1.3 UZR and one defensive run saved on the year.

The Houston Astros are 37-19 at the moment and are 7 1/2 games ahead of the Oakland Athletics for first place in the AL West. However, the team was already missing Jose Altuve and now will be without their star shortstop as well.

The former first overall pick is set to hit free agency at the end of the 2019 season.
