With the San Francisco Giants 11-3 win over the Boston Red Sox, Bruce Bochy has won his 2,000th game as a manager. He has become the 11th manager to accomplish that feat. He joins Connie Mack and Bucky Harris as the only managers to reach this plateau with a sub .500 record.

It should be noted the previous 10 managers to accomplish that feat have all been inducted in the Hall of Fame. That includes John McGraw, who is the only other Giants manager to win 1,000 games as the Giants manager. Of course, McGraw’s 2,580 wins all came in New York making Bochy’s 1,049 wins the most in San Francisco history.

Bochy’s reaching this milestone further cements the Hall of Fame case for a manager who will retire after the conclusion of the 2019 season.

In addition to being one of 11 managers with 2,000 wins, he’s one of 10 managers with at least three World Series titles. The other nine managers have been inducted into the Hall of Fame.

One interesting factoid about Bochy is he’s now the all-time wins leader amongst foreign-born managers. With Bochy’s father being a sergeant in the army stationed in France, Bochy was born in Landes de Bussac, France.
