Two American League teams swapped a pair of veterans on Saturday afternoon.

The Texas Rangers acquired the annual .247 hitting outfielder Khris Davis, catcher Jonah Heim and right-handed pitcher Dane Acker from the Oakland Athletics in exchange for longtime shortstop Elvis Andrus, $13.5 million in cash and catcher Aramis Garcia, according to multiple sources.

Davis, 33, has spent the last five years in Oakland after kicking off his MLB career with the Milwaukee Brewers.

As mentioned above, Davis hit .247 for four straight years from 2015-18. The California native is known mostly for his bat, as he hit 40+ home runs for three straight years in the middle of last decade, but the last two seasons have been difficult for Davis.

In 2019-20, Davis has been worth -1.3 fWAR while primarily working as a designated hitter, only having played 100 innings in the outfield the last two years.

Davis is represented by Octagon.

Heim, 25, debuted with the Athletics in 2020 and appeared in 13 games for them. Over that span, he hit .211/.268/.211. The former fourth round pick of the Baltimore Orioles and Buffalo, New York native, Heim also spent time in the Tampa Bay Rays organization before breaking into the bigs with Oakland.

Heim was ranked as the No. 9 prospect in Oakland’s system by MLB Pipeline at the time of the trade.

Acker, 21, was selected in the fourth round of the 2020 MLB draft out of the University of Oklahoma. He was not ranked by MLB Pipeline in their Top 30 prospects.

Andrus, 32, has spent the entirety of his 12-year MLB career with the Texas Rangers after he was acquired from the Atlanta Braves as a prospect in 2007.

A two-time All-Star, Andrus has been a stalwart at shortstop for the Rangers through all their highs and lows.

While not a superstar by any means, the Venezuela native has put up a respectable 28.1 fWAR over a decade plus of work in the majors.

Andrus has two more years left on his contract with a vesting option for 2023, and is represented by Scott Boras.

Garcia, 28, did not appear in a game in 2020, but had cups of coffee with the San Francisco Giants in 2018-19.
