Josh Hader and Aroldis Chapman have been named as the Relievers of the Year, in the National League and American League, respectively.

Hader, 25, had a 2.62 ERA, 3.10 FIP, and 0.806 WHIP with 16.4 K/9 as compared to 2.4 BB/9 while recording 37 saves in 2019. As noted by Jessica Kleinschmidt of NBC Sports, this was his second consecutive year winning the award which puts him next to Craig Kimbrel and Kenley Jansen as the only relievers to win it twice.

Chapman, 31, also had 37 saves in addition to a 2.21 ERA, 2.28 FIP, and 1.105 WHIP. The left-hander averaged 13.4 K/9 as compared to 3.9 BB/9. This was his first time winning the award.

Oddly enough, both relievers allowed elimination game-deciding runs in their postseason efforts, with Juan Soto and Jose Altuve being responsible for ending the Milwaukee Brewers’ and New York Yankees’ postseasons.
