On Monday, we learned that MLB owners approved of a new proposal to begin the 2020 baseball season in July. Today, MLB and the players union spoke. Whereas we do not have a confirmation yet as to if baseball is coming back this season, we do have a few updates to share.

According to MLB Network’s Jon Heyman, the talks between the two today circled mostly around health and safety. Logistics, new protocols, and testing were all discussed. MLB is confident that they will be able to get enough testing to safely make this happen. If they cannot get enough tests, there would be no way baseball can happen.

Now for the biggest elephant in the room – salaries. Money talks did happen, but no official proposal was presented yet by MLB. The discussion will continue, especially around this topic. As we have all heard the rumors by now, there is plenty of them about potential salary reductions to the players or revenue sharing.

The full proposal that was presented today has still not been made public.

Stay tuned, baseball fans.
