Mitch Voit is becoming quite a story within the New York Mets’ system.
The 2025 first-round pick (38th overall) struggled following the conclusion of his college career with Michigan and then again to begin the season in 2026. With St. Lucie to end 2025 Voit posted a .637 OPS across 85 at-bats. Then, to begin 2026, Voit found himself hitting a mere .219 with a lowly .698 OPS with High-A Brooklyn at the conclusion of May.
Luckily, for both the Mets and the 21-year-old Voit, something clicked beginning in June. In June, Voit slashed .305/.426/.476 (.902 OPS) with eight extra-base hits and a 13-to-13 strikeout-to-walk ratio. He also stole 12 bases with only one caught-stealing. July was not as impressive but it was strong enough to earn himself a call-up to Double-A Binghamton on July 27.

By the time he was called up, Voit’s final slash line with High-A Brooklyn was .242/.349/.396 (.745). A huge improvement from the .219/.314/.384 (.698 OPS) line he was carrying at the end of May.
Since that recall, Voit has been red hot. It was punctuated by a four-hit performance on Sunday. In Binghamton’s (Double-A) 9-3 victory over Reading on Sunday, Voit went 4-for-5 with his first career Double-A home run, two doubles, five runs batted in, and three runs scored.
In all, Voit is 11-for-22 with six extra-base hits since joining the Rumble Ponies. He has also walked (five) more than he has struck out (three). He is also a perfect 3-for-3 stealing bases.
With a lot being made of the current state of the Mets’ farm system, and several of the top names underperforming this year, the emergence of Voit is a huge storyline. Him continuing this upward trend in his developmental would be huge for the future of the organization. With reinforcements on the way via Monday’s trade deadline, the Mets’ system may be a lot better than people have been giving it credit for.
