Left fielder Michael Cuddyer continues to deal with a sore left knee and has missed five of the last seven games, including Tuesday night’s loss to the Giants and perhaps this afternoon’s series finale as well.
While Cuddyer has already received a cortisone shot to reduce the pain, manager Terry Collins backtracked on Tuesday night saying his knee was “acting up.”
“It’s probably a little sore after playing on it for a couple of days.”
Prior to the game, Collins said the knee was not an issue and Cuddyer was getting a routine day off to rest and was “healthy enough to play.”
He is now expected to visit with doctors again on Friday.
Cuddyer is batting .159 (11-for-72) over his last 21 games with a .452 OPS.
He has only started 70 of the team’s 85 games this season.

According to Terry Collins, the Mets will revisit if Michael Cuddyer will be placed on the disabled list on Friday.
While Cuddyer wasn’t expected to miss any significant time, Collins says Cuddyer doesn’t feel very well today.
Cuddyer injured his knee on Tuesday’s game against the Cubs and was taken out in the 7th inning.
“Just felt some soreness,” Cuddyer said, “and then as the game progressed, it progressively got tighter, to the point where I had to say something.”
Cuddyer, who signed a two year $ 21 million dollar contract in the offseason, has been a major disappointment so far. He’s batting just .243 with six home runs and 28 RBI in 72 games.
His .662 OPS ranks among the worst of starting left fielders in the MLB.
