Our own Elliot Teichman, who has been producing our game previews since 2007, has a great post on his site 213 Miles From Shea. It takes a look at some of the more interesting promotions our minor league teams are having this season. There’s definitely some really cool things going on with my favorite being Star Wars Night in Buffalo. Both teams will wear special jerseys as the Rebel Alliance takes on the Storm Troopers. Darth Vader is expected to throw out the first pitch and there’s a big fireworks show after the game. You know you want to go… Search your feelings… You will know it to be true.

Coop at My Summer Family writes up a solid indictment of super agent Scott Boras who has done much harm to the game of baseball with his sleazy tactics. I agree with what Coop has perfectly summarized about Boras, and personally, I put Boras right up there with Donald Fehr and Bud Selig, who all sadly complete the unholy trinity of baseball.
The Daily News writes that Susan Rich, a Connecticut accountant who became Shea Stadium’s first regular female vendor in the 1970s, will be honored today by the Mets before the game against the Marlins.
She served the Mets for nearly three decades and now will be treated to some on-field access during batting practice, a scoreboard salute and prime seats behind home plate.
“I’ve never been on the field at Citi Field,” gushed Rich, a Mets die-hard and mother of two who will be attending with her family.
Good for you Susan, Have fun at the game and thanks so much for all those peanuts and Cracker Jacks.
Finally, Michael G. Baron of Mets Blog, dug this up while going through some old stuff he had in storage. I love how he characterized it, “It’s not the cup of a carpenter, but for us Mets fans, its as close to the Holy Grail as we can get.”
