Kevin Kernan of the New York Post reports that Tom Verducci is working on a cover story about the Mets’ young pitchers for Sports Illustrated.

Earlier this week, Harvey was interviewed a second time by Verducci, and then he met with and interviewed Noah Syndergaard as well. Of course Harvey was the last Met featured on an SI cover, back in 2013 when the Dark Knight was born.

Best_Infield_EverI think this is fantastic news, and it will mean another great Mets Sports Illustrated cover to frame and add to my collection. But not everyone is happy or thrilled about it.

Matthew Cerrone of MetsBlog says he’s “battered as a Mets fan” and that this news “totally freaks him out.”

“I’m paranoid when things like this happen, which is stupid and totally irrational. But, if I’m going to thank the Baseball Gods for crazy miracles, such as 1969, 1973, 1986, 1999, 2000 and 2006, I need to fear them as well.”

I don’t know about all that. I stopped believing in curses, ghosts, and unicorns when I was 12. And I wouldn’t call 1986, 2000 and 2006 a miracle. We were by far the best team in those seasons, and we should have and could have won in 2000 and 2006 with those teams.

I believe we have a great, young, amazing rotation. We have a collection of exciting young arms that is fueling a pennant run and perhaps even more this season.

Our rotation would be absolutely dangerous in a short series and it’s high-time everybody knew it.

We just shutdown one of the best offenses in baseball and rendered them impotent. The Blue Jays have looked helpless against us and we laid their 11-game winning streak to waste.  Look out baseball, here we come.

So hell yeah… Let’s get our guys on the cover of Sports Illustrated. Why not? This is their time. This is our time. And no silly pretend jinx is ever going to change that. LGM
