First baseman Pete Alonso announced on WFAN this afternoon that the Mets will wear first responder hats during their game tonight in Buffalo against the Blue Jays.

They will wear five different hats representing the following: NYPD, FDNY, Port Authority Police Department, Department of Sanitation, and the Office of Emergency Management.

Alonso said he plans to rotate hats tonight to represent as many New York first-responder agencies as possible.

Alonso bought all of his teammate’s cleats that commemorated 9/11 last year that they wore during the game.

Today is the 19th anniversary of the horrific attacks that happened on 9/11 in New York, Pennsylvania, and Washington, D.C. May we never forget.
