The Mets announced on Thursday they’eve finalized a multi-year deal with new manager Luis Rojas. They will introduce him at a press conference on Friday at 3:00 p.m. ET at Citi Field.

Mets GM Brodie Van Wagenen help a presser on Wednesday to tell media that the team had chosen Rojas as their next manager and they were negotiating a multi-year deal. Carlos Beltran and the Mets agreed to mutually part ways earlier this month after only two months with the team as their manager. He was the only player named in the Major League Baseball’s investigation into sign-stealing.

Rojas, 38, has been coaching in the Mets system since 2007 and spent the 2019 season on the big league staff as the quality control coach. He began his managerial career in 2011 with the Gulf Coast League Mets. Rojas managed the next three seasons in Savannah, then two years in St. Lucie and finally in Double-A Binghamton for 2017 and 2018.

He is the son of former big league manager Felipe Alou and brother of former Mets outfielder Moises Alou.
