Good morning, Mets fans!
On Monday, Anthony DiComo reported that Juan Soto (calf strain) is still expected back within 2-3 weeks of his April 3 injury, per Carlos Mendoza, but he has not started a running program.
Should Soto not progress in the next couple of days, it is possible he could undergo another MRI, but as of right now, the Mets are content with his progression, per DiComo.
The Mets have sorely missed Soto’s offensive production in the last five games, scoring just nine runs while allowing 30 over a six-game losing streak.
They were shut out on Monday for the second straight game, 4-0 by the Dodgers. They’ve been shut out in three of their last four games. Dodgers starter Justin Wrobleski threw eight innings, the longest outing of his professional career.
The Mets will try to score a run at 10:10 p.m. ET on Tuesday in the second game of the series. It’s primed to be a pristine pitching matchup, with Nolan McLean (1-1, 2.70 ERA) facing Yoshinobu Yamamoto (2-1, 2.50 ERA).
