The Mets Spring Training game against the Florida Marlins has been canceled due to rain. While the game will not be rescheduled, these two teams will meet on Thursday at First Data Field.
In order to keep Zack Wheeler on track to start the third game of the season on regular rest against Patrick Corbin and the Washington Nationals, he will throw 90 plus pitches in a minor league intrasquad game on Wednesday.
So far, Wheeler looks primed to build off of his strong second half in 2019. In his four Spring starts, Wheeler is 1-1 with a 2.25 ERA and a 0.833 WHIP.
With Opening Day nine days away, the Mets have six games remaining, including split squads on Friday. Before opening the season in Washington, they will have a workout on March 26 in Syracuse, on the day after their Spring Training finale against the Orioles.
