For the second straight year, the Mets were able to infuse a weak farm system with high upside talent through the draft. They got outfielder Pete Crow-Armstrong in the first round, a consensus Top 25 talent in the 2020 draft. First round talent in the second round with right-handed pitcher J.T. Ginn, and tremendous upside when they used the No. 69 pick (comp for Phillies signing Zack Wheeler) on prep outfielder Isaiah Greene.
Let’s take a look where those three picks land in my Top 30 Mets prospects:

It was a tough list to put together given that five of these guys have never played pro baseball yet and three of them only played a small amount after being drafted in 2019. Of course, it’s even tougher given that most of them will not play at all in 2020. Given that consideration, I tended to lean towards younger players when I had two or more on the same level.
All in all, four of the top 10 players on my list were drafted in the last two years. It’s a system that is moving back towards being middle of the road following a drop after trades of Jarred Kelenic, Simeon Woods-Richardson, Anthony Kay, and Justin Dunn.
