Originally reported by Rich MacLeod and then confirmed by Joel Sherman of the New York Post, the Mets are promoting infielder Jeff McNeil from Triple-A Las Vegas.

McNeil, 26, has spent the year between Double-A Binghamton and Triple-A Las Vegas. The infielder slashed .327/.402/.626 in Binghamton, and then .368/.427/.600 after being promoted to the 51s.

The 2013 12th round draft pick has shown defensive versatility, playing second base, third base, shortstop and left field over the course of his 2018 campaign.

Jeff is not currently on the 40-man roster, but the Mets have an open spot following the Jeurys Familia trade.

Sherman reports that the corresponding move could be Yoenis Cespedes to the DL, but nothing is official yet.

Sherman adds that McNeil will likely play third base upon being promoted
