The New York Mets have signed reliever Michael Tonkin, per Mark Feinsand of MLB. It’s a split contract worth $1 million, meaning Tonkin will make that salary prorated during his time in the big leagues.

The 34-year-old had a 4.28 ERA and 1.09 WHIP with 75 strikeouts in 80 innings for the Atlanta Braves. It was his first time in the big leagues since 2017 with the Twins. During that period of 2018 through 2022, he pitched in Japan, Mexico, the minor leagues, and spent time with the Long Island Ducks.

David Stearns has now brought in a number of low-risk bullpen arms, including Kyle Crick, Andre Scrubb, Cole Sulser, and Austin Adams.
