With the Mets bullpen severely struggling, the team has brought in a fresh arm in the form of right-hander Neil Ramirez.
According to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports, the deal is on a major-league pact.
Ramirez, 27, had an 8.71 ERA in nine games for the San Francisco Giants this season.
The righty was claimed off waivers by the Toronto Blue Jays earlier this month and was designated for assignment on Tuesday, but elected free agency after rejecting an outright assignment.
Ramirez’s best year came in 2014, when he posted a 1.44 ERA in 50 games for the Cubs.
The four-year veteran has 110 strikeouts in 92 career innings.
He has held righthanded batters to a career .218 (45-206) batting average.
The New York Mets placed infielder Asdrúbal Cabrera on the 10-Day Disabled List, retroactive to May 14, with a sprained left thumb.
In order to make room on the 40-man roster, the Mets transferred RHP Jeurys Familia to the 60-Day disabled list.
Ramirez will wear No. 55 and will be available for tonight’s game at Arizona.
