The New York Mets suffered their 82nd loss of the season last night securing their fifth losing season in seven years under general manager Sandy Alderson and manager Terry Collins.
They currently sit at 63-82 after 145 games and will have their seventh losing season in their last nine.
The Mets have scored 671 runs this year, matching what they scored on their way to a playoff berth last season but have allowed a whopping 766 runs. The 766 runs are the most they’ve allowed in a season since they gave up 779 in 1996 and the first highest total in franchise history.
Mets pitching has already set a new franchise record with 195 home runs allowed, breaking the previous record of 192 set in 1962.
Neither Alderson nor Collins are under contract for the 2018 season.
