Deesha Thosar of the New York Daily News, reports that approved sale of the Mets to billionaire Steve Cohen could be finalized this Friday. Worst case scenario looks like early next week according to Deesha.
Cohen’s bid to own the Mets was approved by Major League Baseball owners on Oct. 30 and New York City mayor Bill de Blasio gave his go-ahead later that day.
Cohen tweeted out on Thursday that he’s hoping to hold a press conference on Nov. 10, if the sale becomes official tomorrow.
Free agency began last Sunday, though there’s been no action outside of a few minor league deals.
