The New York Mets are among several teams interested in trading for Los Angeles Angels infielder Yunel Escobar, according Pedro Moura of the L.A. Times.

Escobar, 33, has hit .310 with a .359 OBP in 69 games as the Angels’ leadoff hitter playing mostly third base where he leads the American League with 12 errors.

He’s due about $3.5 million the rest of the season, and his contract contains a $7 million team option for 2017, with a $1 million buyout.

Escobar had an MRI on Sunday after suffering a knee injury on Thursday. He is reportedly progressing slowly, but is expected to avoid the disabled list.
