1. Jacob deGrom
deGrom may have had his winless streak reach 10 games after his outing on Saturday night, but he may have had perhaps one of his best performances of the year. Through eight shutout innings, Jacob struck out six batters and gave up seven hits and just one walk, and was in control the entire game. Unfortunately, the Mets offense couldn’t produce any runs for him, leaving him with a no-decision. DeGrom is now 0-4 dating all the way back to April 30th when he beat the Giants. He did however lower his ERA to 2.67.
If it wasn’t for Kelly Johnson, the Mets could have very well dropped three of four in Atlanta. The offense looked dead and was stymied again by Braves ace Julio Teheran the whole night. It wasn’t until former Brave Kelly Johnson came to the plate in the top of the 11th inning as a pinch hitter that the Mets finally got on the board. Johnson deposited one just over the right field fence to save the Mets. It was his second homerun since he was acquired by the team on June 8th.
Colon was just about as good as you could be in the series finale on Sunday afternoon, but yet again fell victim to absolutely no run support from his offense. Aside from the first inning homerun he allowed off the bat of Freddie Freeman, Colon allowed nothing else over seven innings. He gave up just six hits with a walk and two strikeouts, and unfortunately that one run was all it took to give him the loss. His three-game winning streak came to an end despite giving up just that one run.

1. Steven Matz
Although the Mets would end up winning the game on Friday night, Steven Matz struggled through 4 1/3 innings pitched, after allowing six runs on nine hits while not recording a strikeout. Matz looked great through the first four innings of the game, but hit a wall in the fifth and had to be taken out because of it. He is now winless in his last five starts with an ERA of 5.00 during that time frame.
2. Offense Struggles
Aside from their outbreak on Friday night, the Mets offense could only manufacture six runs in the other three games. What’s more is the fact that the offense continues to struggle against weak pitching. They could only manage to score two runs off of Braves starter Matt Wisler on Thursday night, who is 3-7 on the year with a 4.22 ERA. In the series finale on Sunday afternoon, the Mets couldn’t even score a run off of Braves starter Bud Norris, who is also 3-7 with a 4.22 ERA. Mets starters have been pitching great and have kept them in just about every game as of late, but the offense continues to come up short.
3. Addison Reed
Matt Harvey wasn’t great in the series opener on Thursday night, but he did only allow two runs through six innings of play, and gave the Mets a solid chance at winning the game. The Mets held a 3-2 lead heading into the bottom of the 8th inning, when Addison Reed came in and surrendered a two-run homerun off the bat of Adonis Garcia. He hadn’t allowed a run in 16 appearances through May and June, but has since allowed six runs on eight hits in his last six innings of work. His ERA has now shut up from 1.63 to 2.70.
