The Mets have designated Justin Hampson for assignment and recalled Jordany Valdespin fron Triple-A Buffalo.

Valdespin, 24, has been on hot streak at Buffalo and is batting .333 in his last ten games with two homeruns, eight RBI and four stolen bases. For the season he has a .289 average in 136 at-bats.

Hampson, 32, appeared in three games and faced eight batters for New York. The left-hander allowed three hits and a walk in his first big league action since 2008. The left-hander was having a solid season at Triple-A Buffalo before he was called up. In 28 appearances he had a 2.13 ERA in 41.2 innings pitched with 42 strikeouts.
