Prior to Monday’s doubleheader with the Philadelphia Phillies, the Mets optioned Chris Flexen to Triple-A Las Vegas and recalled southpaw P.J. Conlon.
Flexen, 24, was roughed up in his start Sunday against the Tampa Bay Rays. In three innings, he was tagged for five runs on five hits. In four games for New York this year, he is 0-2 with a 12.79 ERA.
Conlon, 24, has appeared in two games for New York this year, logging an 11.12 ERA.
It’s been a roller coaster of a season for the Ireland-born pitcher, who was designated by the Mets in May, claimed off waivers by the Los Angeles Dodgers and then claimed back by New York.
Conlon will be available for today’s double dip.
