The Mets announced that they have called up catcher Anthony Recker and optioned Johnny Monell to Triple-A Las Vegas.

Recker, who was named PCL Player of the Week last month, is batting .293 with a .398 on-base and 1.038 OPS, while hitting seven home runs and collecting 19 RBIs in 21 games for Las Vegas this year.

Monell, who popped out with the bases loaded in his one pinch-hit at-bat on Sunday, is hitting .178 this season and has looked overmatched in two stints with the Mets.

The good news is that Travis d’Arnaud has begun baseball activities and is running the bases and swinging a bat. He may be a week away barring any setbacks assuming he begins a rehab assignment this week.

Recker, who was demoted last month, batted just .143 with two home runs and three RBIs in 19 major-league games this season.
