According to a report by Keona Gardner of TC Palm, the New York Mets and St. Lucie County have reached an agreement on Tuesday, to renovate First Data Field, the spring training home of the Mets.

The new agreement will keep the Mets in Port St. Lucie until 2042 according to the report, and will include $57 million in renovations and improvements. The Mets will be responsible for $2 million of those projected costs.

Prior to reaching this agreement, the Mets had become so frustrated at the pace and the tenor of the talks, that they were ready to relocate to a new Florida site and facility.

The new renovations are expected to include major and minor league clubhouses, a new practice field, a connector for fans around the outfield, and a Little League softball complex.

“We are pleased with today’s outcome,” the Mets said in a statement. “Thanks to the St. Lucie County board of commissioners… We are thankful for the continued support of our fans and the local businesses.”

The Mets have held spring training at First Data Field since it opened in 1988 as Tradition Field at the time.
