Jacob Resnick of Metsmerized Online reports that the Mets have officially placed reliever Anthony Swarzak on the 10-day disabled list. They’ve recalled Hansel Robles from Triple-A to take his place in the bullpen. This news comes a few hours after Anthony DiComo reported that Robles was in New York.

Swarzak, 32, signed a two-year deal with the Mets this offseason. He appeared in 2.1 innings this season, allowing one earned run and striking out three, before having to be removed from a game with an oblique issue. In 77.1 innings for the Brewers and White Sox last season, Swarzak pitched to a 2.33 ERA and 2.74 FIP with 91 strikeouts.

Robles, 27, had an unimpressive spring following an unimpressive 2017 season during which he pitched 56.2 innings, recording a 4.92 ERA, 5.13 FIP, and 1.341 WHIP. He struck out 60 and walked 29 in 46 appearances.

The only other reliever on the 40-man roster that could have been recalled was Jamie Callahan, and it’s understandable that the Mets wouldn’t want to use one of his options for such a short stint in the Majors.
