According to Betsy Helfand of the Las Vegas Review-Journal, the Mets are calling up reliever Tim Peterson. Mike Puma of the New York Post adds that outfielder Jay Bruce is being placed on the disabled list in a corresponding move.

Peterson, 27, was sent down to the minors on June 14 when New York claimed right-hander Chris Beck off waivers from the Chicago White Sox.

In three games (4.1 IP) with the Mets this year, Peterson has allowed one run on five hits (2.08 ERA).

As for Bruce, the outfielder has been banged up all year, playing through plantar fasciitis as well as recently dealing with hip and back issues.

On the season, he has hit just .212/.292/.321 with three homers and 17 RBI to go along with a -0.9 WAR.
