After Zack Wheeler‘s home run on Tuesday night, the New York Mets became the first National League team since 1908 to have three different pitchers hit home runs in their first 25 games, per MLB Stats.

Wheeler did it all last night going 2-for-3 at the plate with his first career homer, a two-run double, three RBI, and two runs scored. He also pitched seven shut out innings only allowing five hits and recording eleven strikeouts.

Noah Syndergaard picked up his 5th career dinger on Sunday afternoon against the St. Louis Cardinals. Syndergaard sent a shot to left center, which deflected off the top of Dexter Fowler‘s glove and over the wall for a home run. Unfortunately, this would be the only highlight of his day, where he allowed six runs (4 earned).

Jacob deGrom also has a home run on the year, which came on his 14 strikeout night in Miami against the Marlins. This was deGrom’s second homer of his career, the last of which came in June 2017 versus the Washington Nationals at Citi Field.

While the Mets top three starters are definitely forces to be reckoned with at the dish, the club’s number four starter Steven Matz is more than a threat with the bat. Like deGrom, Matz has two career home runs, as well.

These pitchers can certainly do damage at the plate and there is more than reason to believe they will continue this offensive success given their career track records. Could we see more home runs from this group to follow? Could Matz be next to join the 2019 pitcher’s home run club? Only time will tell.
