The New York Mets announced that left-hander Dana Eveland will be promoted from Triple-A Las Vegas and join the team in time for Sunday’s game against the Philadelphia Phillies.

The Mets optioned down OF Matt den Dekker to Vegas to make room for Eveland. He was hitless in four at-bats.

After playing two 14-inning games over the past two days the Mets bullpen has been heavily taxed, forcing them .

Eveland, 30, has a 3.91 ERA in 12 appearances (eight starts) with Vegas and last pitched in the big leagues with the Baltimore Orioles in 2012.

In 114 major league appearances including 61 starts, Eveland has a 5.46 ERA, 1.666 WHIP and 4.42 FIP in 392.2 innings pitched.

Eveland should provide a fresh arm to a heavily taxed bullpen that is coming off consecutive 14-inning games.
