Buster Olney of ESPN reports that the Mets Opening Day game vs the Nationals in Washington, D.C. on Thursday has been postponed due to COVID-19 issues.

Olney also reports the Mets vs Nats first game will not take place on Friday.

It was reported on Wednesday, that the Nationals had a person test positive for COVID-19 and that five others had been deemed close contacts.

Mets fans will have to wait to see Jacob deGrom take the mound and to see the recently extended Francisco Lindor make his anticipated debut.

As soon as we learn the details regarding a make-up game — or games if the series is canceled — we will update this post.
