Jenrry Mejia didnt make it out of the third due to injury, but the Mets offense came through big and won their third straight.

Game Notes

Jenrry Mejia was removed in the third inning and diagnosed with a pulled muscle behind his shoulder. After throwing the pitch, he appeared to clutch his back. Hopefully, this has nothing to do with the strain he sufferred when he returned to the minor leagues.

Raul Valdes relieved him and was bludgeoned, allowing four runs to score, including one of Jenrry’s inherited runners in one and two-third innings. With the bullpen so deep, you’d like to see prospect guys throw more than someone who won’t be pitching for the Mets next year. Pat Misch went one inning, allowing two hits. Elmer Dessens threw FOUR pitches to get his THREE outs. Pedro Feliciano pitched one and two thirds of an inning giving up one run and one hit and striking out one. Bobby Parnell and Hisanori Takahashi combined to finish off the game, but not before making it close

This was the ultimate bullpen day, with the majority of the bullpen seeing some form of work.

The offense had one major inning, then vanished as it has many times this year. Clutch hits from Ruben Tejada, Angel Pagan and Mike Hessman helped spark the huge fourth inning, as well as two errors from the sketchy Pirate defense. Its great to see the Mets have these outbursts, but consistency would be much more appreciated.

Reyes, Pagan, Wright, Beltran and Davis all were productive. The 6-9 hitters didn’t manage a hit, but did draw some walks

Jose Reyes, 1-4 with his 10th home run of the year. Its good to see Jose get into a ball and send it out of the yard

Ike Davis, 1-3 with a run and his 68th RBI, including a walk and NO strikeouts. In September, Ike has 10 walks to 9 strikeouts.

Lucas Duda and the amazing case of the spiraling batting average. He is hitting .030. Decimal place is correct

Turning Point

When the Pirates decided that errors were trendy and allowed the fourth inning to spiral out of control

Game Ball

Angel Pagan, 2-4 with two RBI, a great running catch and some clutch hits.
