Mets Morning Briefing: Gsellman Returns to the Rotation

Good Morning Mets fans! Last night, with the help of a seven-run first inning, the New York Mets (19-24) beat the Padres (16-31) by a score of 9-3 at Citi Field. Tonight the Mets will send Robert Gsellman (2-3, 6.75 ERA) to the mound and he will be opposed by Jarred Cosart (0-1, 2.70 ERA).

Asdrubal Cabrera‘s rehab assignment will be with the Double-A Binghamton Rumble Ponies. The game was postponed last night so his rehab stint will probably begin tonight.

It wasn’t the best night for the rehabbing starting pitchers. Steven Matz went four innings and gave up five runs while throwing 78 pitches. Seth Lugo went three innings and gave up six runs while throwing 62 pitches.

Yoenis Cespedes will go on a rehab assignment following his running program according to Anthony Dicomo of MLB.com.
