Stanley Consuegra capped a huge series with a 504-foot home run, his second with the Brooklyn Cyclones. Here’s a closer look at his performance this week and other happenings throughout the Mets system prior to the All-Star break.

Triple-A Syracuse

Syracuse split a six-game set with the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp. The Triple-A Mets are now 40-50 on the year.

Francisco Álvarez and Mark Vientos each received starts in Saturday’s Futures Game. Álvarez, who served as the NL’s designated hitter, went 0-for-1 with a walk while Vientos played first base and went 0-f0r-2 with a walk and a strikeout. Vientos would also hit his 16th home run of the year during Wednesday’s contest in Syracuse.

Khalil Lee had a huge series going 6-for-17 with three home runs. The 24-year-old outfielder is slashing .250/.367/.625 through 40 at-bats in July. Nick Plummer also had a nice week going 7-for-19 while adding a pair of stolen bases.

Thomas Szapucki had a pair of solid outings in the series. The lefthander pitched a total of 10 innings while allowing two runs on nine hits and striking out 15. Szapucki’s ERA improved to 3.51 in Triple-A this year with a K/9 of 12.20.

Apart from Szapucki and Jacob deGrom, it was a rough week for starting pitchers in Syracuse. Most notable was Connor Grey who let up five runs on seven hits while recording just one out.

Double-A Binghamton

The Rumble Ponies dropped four of six to the Erie SeaWolves as they fell to 33-54 on the season.

Jeremy Vasquez led Binghamton with eleven hits, including three doubles, in 25 at-bats. Brett Baty went 11-for-25 with two home runs. Baty has been red-hot in July hitting .317/.406/.600 with five home runs through 60 at-bats.

Ronny Mauricio, Carlos Cortes, Luke Ritter, and Wyatt Young would also homer in the series for the Rumble Ponies.

Jose Butto impressed again on the mound allowing just a run on seven hits through 6.2 innings while striking out six. It marked the third-straight quality start for Butto who improved to 6-5 with a 3.73 ERA.

High-A Brooklyn

The Cyclones took four of six from the Greensboro Grasshoppers to improve to 41-46 on the season.

Stanley Consuegra had a breakout series going 11-for-25 with six doubles and two home runs. The 21-year-old outfielder is slashing .271/.327/.563 through his first 48 at-bats in Brooklyn.

Jose Peroza also had a strong series with eight hits, including two home runs, in 24 at-bats. Peroza has been excellent in June with a .349/.396/.628 slash line in 43 at-bats.

It was an excellent week on the mound for the Cyclones — six starting pitchers combined to allow just six earned runs in 38.2 innings. Nick Zwack, Carson Seymour, Junior Santos, Dominic Hamel, and Garrison Bryant all logged quality starts. Hamel struck out 10 over six innings while Seymour struck out 11 in 6 2/3.

Low-A St. Lucie

St. Lucie split a six-game series with the Dunedin Blue Jays. The Mets are 51-35 on the year.

Junior Tilien lead the Mets with nine hits in 23 at-bats with a double and two home runs. The 19-year-old infielder is slashing .269/.312/.466 in his first full professional season.

Warren Saunders also had a strong series going 8-for-18 with a pair of doubles. The Bahamanian outfielder has a .885 OPS through 34 at-bats in St. Lucie.

Omar De Los Santos also hit a pair of home runs and stole his 48th base of the season.

Jose Acuna was impressive on the mound allowing a run on three hits and a walk over five innings while striking out eight. A 2019 signee from Venezuela, Acuna is 3-0 with a 2.93 ERA and 44 strikeouts in 30.2 innings this season.

Dominican Summer League/Florida Complex League

Simon Juan had a strong week in the DSL going 6-for-19 with two doubles and three stolen bases. Juan is now batting .223/.328/.339 through 112 at-bats this year.

Hector Rodriguez continued to impress in the FCL going 6-for-22 with a triple, a home run, and six stolen bases.

Players of the Week

Offensive – Stanley Consuegra, OF Brooklyn

After a slow start in High-A Consuegra broke out in a huge way this week with eight extra-base hits, including a 504-foot home run.

Consuegra had shown flashes of his potential but was marred by injuries early in his professional career. Now healthy, the 21-year-old outfielder is giving Mets fans something to be excited about. After posting a .251/.324/.431 line through 66 games in St. Lucie, Consuegra is slashing .271/.327/.563 through his first 48 at-bats in Brooklyn.

Pitching – The Brooklyn Rotation

It’d be impossible to pick one pitcher this week when it seemed like the entire Cyclones staff was dominant against Greensboro.

Nick Zwack made a pair of starts allowing just two runs on six hits over 8.1 innings while striking out 10. The lefthander now has a 1.49 ERA with a K/9 of 9.94 in 54.1 innings in Brooklyn.

Garrison Bryant, Dominic Hamel, and Luis Moreno each went six innings to earn wins. Carson Seymour was perhaps the most impressive in a no-decision, striking out 11 over 6.2 shutout innings.
