Mark Vientos continues to lay waste to Triple-A pitching, crushing his 13th home run of the season in the Syracuse Mets’ victory. Ronny Mauricio hit his 14th home run and drove in three for Binghamton, Nick Zwack pushed his consecutive scoreless innings streak to 18 for Brooklyn, and Stanley Consuegra drove in five runs in a prolific performance for St. Lucie.

The Mets won in walk-off fashion for the second time in three days, as Kramer Robertson drew a bases-loaded walk to drive in the winning run in the bottom of the 10th inning. Robertson is 0-for-7 to start his Syracuse Mets career, but he has scored two runs and driven in two more across his two games played with the club. Mark Vientos has a home run in back-to-back games. Nick Meyer collected three RBI, including a two-run double during a four-run eighth inning that helped the Mets tie the game after being down 6-1 in the fifth.

Trevor Cahill has now made four starts for Syracuse but has yet to make it into the fifth inning in any of them. He had his worst outing of the season, allowing three home runs in his 3 2/3 innings of work. However, the bullpen was stellar, allowing just two hits and one run across 6 1/3 innings. Joe Zanghi helped to keep the game tied after the offense sparked a comeback, and Eric Orze pitched a scoreless frame in the top of the 10th for the win, Syracuse’s fifth victory in its last six games.

Double-A: Binghamton Rumble Ponies (29-43) 4, Hartford Yard Goats (45-27) 14 Box Score

  • SS Ronny Mauricio: 1-for-3, HR (14), 3 RBI, SO, .256/.291/.485
  • DH Francisco Álvarez: 1-for-3, R, 2 BB, .275/.362/.559

  • LF Carlos Cortes: 3-for-3, 2B, BB, .263/.349/.439

The three-headed monster at the top of the Rumble Ponies’ lineup came to play on Thursday, but they were unable to avoid the blowout loss, a result that has become all too familiar for this team this season. Ronny Mauricio hit his 14th home run of the season to put the Rumble Ponies up 2-0 in the first inning, adding another RBI on a sacrifice fly in the third. Francisco Álvarez reached base three times and scored on the Mauricio homer, while Brett Baty collected two hits and scored a run as well.

Nothing seemed to be going right for Jesús Vargas on Thursday, as the starting pitcher allowed eight runs to score and was only able to record four outs. The next few bullpen arms to come into the game did not fare much better, and the Rumble Ponies found themselves down 14-4 by the end of the fifth inning. The lone bright spots on the pitching side of things were Hunter Parsons and Andrew Edwards, who combined to throw three scoreless innings to mercifully bring this one to an end.

High-A: Brooklyn Cyclones (34-38) 6, Hudson Valley Renegades (36-36) 1 Box Score

The Cyclones broke a scoreless deadlock with a four-run sixth inning, riding that momentum to a comfortable victory. Jaylen Palmer launched his seventh home run of the season to put the Cyclones on the board, Shervyen Newton hit a two-run triple, and JT Schwartz drove him home with an RBI single. Newton collected a third RBI on the night in the ninth inning, cementing the win.

  • LHP Nick Zwack: (W, 2-1), 6.0 IP, H, 0 ER, 3 BB, 6 K, 1.58 ERA
  • RHP Brendan Hardy: IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 2 BB, K, 4.22 ERA
  • HRP Grant Hartwig: (S, 7), 1.1 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, K, 0.63 ERA

Nick Zwack was lights out yet again for the Cyclones, pitching six scoreless innings and allowing just one hit. He has now pitched 18 consecutive scoreless innings dating back to June 12th, and he is down to a pristine 1.58 ERA on the season. Grant Hartwig collected his seventh save of the year and has a microscopic 0.63 ERA across 10 appearances (14.1 IP) for the Cyclones.

Low-A: Jupiter Hammerheads (37-33) 3, St. Lucie Mets (42-29) 13 Box Score

  • 2B Justin Guerrera: 2-for-4, RBI, R, SB, 2 SO, .221/.335/.407

The offense finally came alive for the Mets after several weeks of lackluster play, putting 13 runs on the board in a blowout victory. The star of the show was Stanley Consuegra, who hit his eighth home run of the season, drove in five runs, and scored three times. Alex Ramirez filled the stat sheet, reaching base three times, driving in two runs, and collecting his 17th steal of the year. Each of the nine players in the starting lineup had a hit in this one.

Javier Atencio had one of his best starts of the season, going five scoreless innings while striking out five. Joshua Cornielly has allowed at least one run in five straight relief appearances and gave up a three-run seventh inning, but the offense ensured that the Mets were never in danger of losing their lead.
