
Last night Steven Matz made his AAA debut last night in a 2-1 for the Las Vegas 51’s and pitched 5 scoreless before running into trouble in the 6th. Matz left the in the 6th inning after walking a batter that would later come around to score against Zack Thornton. Matz final line: 5.1, 3 H, 1 R, 3 BB, and 4 strikeouts. The 51’s didn’t muster a hit until Eric Campbell singled to lead off the 7th. Johnny Monell followed with a single with what would be the last hit of the night for Las Vegas. Binghamton’s start of their title defense did not go well as they lost to the Akron RubberDucks 14-5 last night.The game was tied 4-4 going into the bottom of the 6th when the bullpen of Domingo Tapia, Chase Huchingson, and Adam Kolarek imploded. Starting pitcher Matt Koch lasted 4.2 innings giving up 7 hits, 3 runs on no walks and 3 strikeouts. Brandon Nimmo was 0-4 with an RBI and 2 k’s. T.J. The Mets were very aggressive with some of their Top Prospects and for one night they look like geniuses with St. Lucie winning 7-2. Robert Gsellman started and got the win going 5.1 innings allowing only 1 run on 7 hits, 1 walk, and 2 strikeouts. Have to point out that Bradenton had 3 of their top 10 hitting prospects in the lineup against Gsellman. The 19-year old Amed Rosario made a splash in his first full season game going 3-5 with an RBI, 2B, SB, and 2 runs scored. Savannah Sand Gnats lost their opener in heart breaking fashion in the bottom of the 10th on a fielder’s choice after tying the game 6-6 in the 9th. Starter Corey Oswalt lasted 5.2 innings only allowing 2 earned runs on 10 hits, 4 strikeouts and no walks. Wuilmer Becerra made his full season debut going 1-5 with a 3-run HR and an outfield assist.
