In an exclusive interview with Mike Puma of the New York Post, Mets chief revenue officer Lou DePaoli said that the team has already sold upward of 30,000 tickets for Matt Harvey’s first home start scheduled for Tuesday, April 14 at Citi Field.

“Generally the second home game of the season is the toughest to sell.”

“Once people heard what the rotation would be, it started bringing up sales a little bit,” DePaoli said.

Overall, Mets ticket sales are up 22 percent from this time last year, according to DePaoli.

DePaoli said it’s too early to determine if Harvey’s dazzling performance against the Washington Nationals on Thursday, will lead to an uptick in ticket sales, but I’d be shocked if it doesn’t.

Sandy Alderson admitted that dollars played into the decision to bump Matt Harvey from the home opener, which had been announced as a sellout, to the second game to boost ticket revenues. “Could be,” he said with a smile.
