AAA: Syracuse Mets (39-60) 5, Rochester Red Wings (43-55) 3 BOX SCORE

Facing Rochester’s Cade Cavalli, Travis Blankenhorn delivered a base-clearing double to give the Syracuse Mets a commanding 4-0 lead in the top of the third inning. Wilfredo Tovar also recorded two hits including his 38th RBI of the season, and Albert Almora Jr. remained hot in August by hitting a two-out RBI in the top of the third, his 18th of the year. Overall, the Mets scored five runs on six hits and two walks. Also, Syracuse was 3-5 with runners in scoring position which was a key factor in this win over the Red Wings.

Jesús Reyes got the start last night for Syracuse and nearly had a quality start, as he allowed two runs on six hits and two walks over 5.2 IP. Then, Geoff Hartlieb replaced Reyes in the bottom of the 6th and allowed an unearned run. He walked two batters in 1.1 IP and allowed one hit in the appearance. Finally, Bradley Roney pitched an almost-perfect two inning save, walking a batter and striking out two while securing Syracuse’s 39th win of the season.

AA: New Hampshire Fisher Cats (47-49) 5, Binghamton Rumble Ponies (45-53) 1 BOX SCORE

In Saturday night’s game, the Rumble Ponies scored one run on five hits and three walks led by former Stanford teammates Quinn Brodey and Matt Winaker. Brodey hit a pair of doubles and Winaker drove in Binghamton’s only run in the top of the 6th inning, his 13th RBI for the Ponies.

Jose Butto allowed a grand slam in the bottom of the third inning. Three of those four runs were earned runs. Other than the 3rd inning, Butto had a productive start. Once the game was somewhat out of reach, Trey Cobb came in and pitched scoreless 6th and 7th innings and Joe Zanghi allowed a run in the bottom of the 8th.

A+: Brooklyn Cyclones (39-60) 4, Aberdeen IronBirds (50-49) 1 BOX SCORE

Luis Gonzalez put on a show in Brooklyn, collecting four hits including a home run in the bottom of the 6th, two doubles, and a single. If Gonzalez stretched out one of those doubles to a triple, he would’ve hit for the cycle. Ronny Mauricio also had a strong night with two singles and his 57th RBI of the season. Overall, the Cyclones scores four runs on seven hits and seven walks.

Jose Chacin made his Cyclones debut on Saturday night, pitching 5.2 solid innings and earning the win. Bryce Montes de Oca performed a five-out save for Brooklyn, his sixth save of the year.

A-: Daytona Tortugas (49-52) 3, St. Lucie Mets (52-46) 2 BOX SCORE

The Mets had a balanced scoring attack on Saturday night with seven players getting a hit. Ultimately, seven hits and three walks only translated into two runs for St. Lucie as they fell to the Tortugas in extra innings. Omar De Los Santos hit his fourth double of the season and drew a walk, while Wold had an RBI double in the 4th inning.

Jordan Yamamoto pitched for St. Lucie on Saturday night for his rehab assignment. He threw 39 pitches in 3 innings and only allowed one hit and one walk. Reyson Santos pitched scoreless 8th and 9th innings to give the Mets a chance to pull ahead, but the offense did not strike and St. Lucie picked up their 46th loss of the season.
