Syracuse found themselves trailing after having a 5-1 lead after five innings. Despite blowing a late lead, the Mets found a way to get themselves a win due to some ninth inning heroics. Suozzi was the provider of the heroics with a walk-off two-run triple in the bottom of the ninth, his first triple at the Triple-A level. It was also his first three-hit game at the Triple-A level.

It was another great game for Mauricio as he had his second three-hit game of the series and his third multi-hit game. This month, he has a slash line of .297/.360/.571 with six home runs and 13 RBIs. He had a solo shot in the eighth to cut the deficit to 7-6.

Vasil put up a quality outing on Saturday night as he did not allow a single extra-base hit in six innings of work. He ended up retiring the last seven batters he faced. The 23-year-old has pitched into the sixth inning or later in each of the last four starts (5 runs allowed in 25 2/3 innings).

Double-A

Binghamton Rumble Ponies (61-57) 9, New Hampshire Fishercats (54-62) 4

BOX SCORE

The Rumble Ponies offense ended up scoring five of their nine runs in the first two innings, which allowed them to take a lead they never looked back from. Schwartz was the catalyst for most of those runs. He had an RBI single in the top of the first and a two-run single in the second. He has driven in eight runs in the last three games of this series.

Gilbert had an RBI single as well in the second to give him at least one hit and one RBI in each of the five games of this series. Jackson had a multi-hit game and extended his hit streak to 11 games (RBI single in the fourth). Finally, Ruiz picked up a two-run home run in the sixth for his 17th of the year (leads the team).

Of note, Gervase had a bounce back appearance after recording only two outs on August 23 as he made his third appearance with the Rumble Ponies. He ended up striking out three of the five batters he faced and the three Binghamton pitchers combined as a trio to strike out 13 Fishercats.

High-A

Brooklyn Cyclones (60-58) 8, Asheville Tourists (46-68) 5

BOX SCORE

While the Cyclones only had one extra-base hit (double by Pregent), they managed 13 hits in Saturday’s victory. The offense put up a four-spot in the top of the fifth on RBI singles by Pregent, Chase Estep, Parada, and Consuegra. Consuegra had at least one hit in each of the five games in this series (seven RBIs).

Clifford had a sacrifice fly in the seventh to give him five RBIs in the last three games against his former team. As for Williams, he did not record a hit, but he did have two walks to give him at least one walk in six of the last seven games (.480 OBP in August).

Geber surrendered a two-run home run in the bottom of the sixth, but that was the only mistake he made in the entire outing. The 24-year-old right-hander had his second-longest outing of the year (5 1/3 innings).

Both Rodriguez’s made their High-A debut with Luis picking up a 1-2-3 save in the bottom of the ninth. The 20-year-old has held opponents to a .156 batting average in 18 combined appearances at FCL, Low-A St. Lucie, and now High-A.

Low-A

Dunedin Blue Jays (57-62) 6, St. Lucie Mets (40-78) 5 in 11 Innings

Saturday was the Low-A debuts of Vargas and Hernandez after the FCL season ended on Thursday. Hernandez had three hits, including an RBI single in the top of the fifth. Cuevas had a solo home run in the ninth and Lara had an RBI single as St. Lucie erased an early 5-1 deficit. As a team, the Mets struck out 16 times and were 2-for-11 with runners in scoring position.

Orellana got himself into early trouble and Dunedin was able to steal four bases against him in the five innings he was in. Nevertheless, it was the 21-year-old’s longest outing since June 15 (10-start stretch).

Esterlin and Hawkins made their Low-A debuts in this game. Esterlin escaped trouble in the seventh thanks to an unassisted double play. As for Hawkins, he was able to shake off a catcher’s interference in the ninth by getting back-to-back strikeouts with the winning run in scoring position to force extras.
