The only multi-hit game came from Mcllwain, who had a game-tying RBI single in the 10th inning. It was his third multi-hit game of the year. As for Rudick, he has recorded at least one hit in five of his last seven games.

  • RHP Mike Vasil (4.50 ERA): 5 IP, 3 ER, 3 H, BB, 7 K, WP, HBP (55 of 82 pitches for strikes)

On the mound, Vasil gave up two home runs in a three-batter stretch to begin the top of the fourth. Outside of that, he has strong stuff the entire day and he has seven strikeouts in each of his last two starts.

While Vasil is the headliner, Lavender struck out seven of the 13 batters he faced and it’s the first time he has struck out seven in an outing since August 28, 2022 when he was with Brooklyn. The 23-year-old left-handed starter has not allowed a run in five consecutive outings.

High-A

For the second straight day, the Brooklyn Cyclones (6-11) had their game against the Jersey Shore BlueClaws (8-9) postponed due to rain. They will makeup Saturday’s game as part of a doubleheader on Sunday with Game 1 beginning at 12:05 pm ET.

Low-A

Clearwater Threshers (14-6) 11, St. Lucie Mets (5-15) 4

BOX SCORE

The St. Lucie slide continues as they have lost the first five games of their series against Clearwater and they managed only three hits while striking out 10 times.

De Los Santos got the scoring started with an RBI single in the second, but that was the only run driven in via a hit on the night.

  • RHP Saul Garcia (1-2, 6.52 ERA): 3 IP, 3 ER, 3 H, 5 BB, 6 K, Pitch Timer Violation (33 of 70 pitches for strikes)

  • RHP Elliot Johnstone (6.55): 3 IP, 2 ER, 4 H, 4 K (32 of 41 pitches for strikes)

It has only been two starts for Garcia (four appearances), but he has walked five batters and allowed three runs in each of his two starts this year. The difference was in this start he struck out a season-high six batters.

Rodriguez did not get a single out in the sixth inning as Clearwater ended up scoring seven runs in the frame.
