Syracuse rode a six-run third inning in route to a 7-5 victory over the Rochester Red Wings. Dilson Herrera continued his hot start with an RBI single that brought the Mets within two runs and Tim Tebow followed with an RBI single that tied up the game. Tomas Nido, playing in his first game since being sent down on Sunday, brought up the tie with an RBI double. However, after the third inning, the Mets’ offense went AWOL, going 0-14 to finish off the game.

After Travis Traijeron singled in Gregor Blanco for a quick 1-0 lead, Zach Lee gave up the lead and more in the ensuing innings. Lee, an offseason minor-league pickup, struggled from the onset on his first Mets outing. Despite allowing three base-runners in the first inning, he escaped unscathed. However, in the second and third innings, the ceiling fell in. Former MLBer Adam Rosales singled in two and the following inning, he scorched an RBI double to extend the Red Wings’ lead. This season, we don’t have Vegas to blame for pitchers’ bad starts!
Corey Taylor saved the Mets’ bullpen with 3.1 scoreless innings.

The Mets enjoyed an offensive outburst that had been eluding them to start the year. After scoring nine runs in their first five games, they matched that total tonight. Every player except for first-baseman Matt Winaker tallied a hit. Rehabbing Major-Leaguer Todd Frazier appeared at shortstop for the first time since 2011 and led off the scoring with an RBI single in the first inning. Quinn Brodey cracked a two-run double in the top of the seventh to give the Mets a lead they wouldn’t relinquish. Offseason acquiree Cody Bohanek also enjoyed a strong night.
Desmond Lindsay led the charge in the St.Lucie. Even though he only tallied one hit in the season’s first five games, he enjoyed a 4-for-5 night that saw him drive in Quinn Brodey twice in pivotal spots. After working on his swing in the AFL, Lindsay’s an intriguing prospect to keep tabs on this season.

The Mets’ 2018 seventh-rounder Kevin Smith was given the ball for his second start of the season. Since he’s transitioning to a starting pitcher, the Mets are planning to be conservative with his pitch count; he’s yet to exceed 75 pitches in either of his starts this season. Yeizo Campos, who has seemingly moved permanently to the bullpen, impressed yet again, hurling three scoreless frames. Blake Taylor worked in and out of a little bit of trouble in the ninth inning to record his second save of the season.
The Binghamton Rumble Ponies and the Columbia Fireflies games were both canceled due to rain.
