Binghamton 3 (24-15), Bowie 0 (Baltimore) Box Score

Paez had the go-ahead runs with the home run. Dario Pizzano collected three hits. Patrick Mazeika was named Eastern League Player of the Week after batting .333/.379/.926.

Kay should be promoted to Triple-A any day now. He is absolutely, flat out dominating. He was pulled because he reached 88 pitches after the 7th inning, and they’re likely not letting stretch out to 100 pitches yet. Blackham let up a single on the second batter faced, after walking the first guy. Those were the only two hits allowed.

Dunedin 5, St. Lucie 2 (22-20) Box Score Game 1

Brodey accounted for both runs with two sacrifice flies, but he has cooled down in May after hitting .319/.365/.418 in April. Meyer has four stolen bases, which is pretty nice for a catcher.

Nunez hasn’t skipped a beat since moving to Hi-A. A throwing error by Manny Rodriguez in the 7th prolonged the inning further, and lost the game.

Dunedin 2, St. Lucie 0 (22-21) Box Score Game 2

  • 2B Carlos Cortes 2 for 3, 2B, .271/.329/.414
  • SS Manny Rodriguez 1 for 3, 2 K, .261/.364/.348

Cortes has been killin’ it in May, hitting .328/.385/.552 with eight extra base hits.

  • RHP Kyle Wilson 6.2 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 3 K, L, (2-3) 4.26 era

Besides one seven run game, Wilson has been pretty decent this year, to some of my co-writer’s glee.

Columbia 4 (17-24), Rome 2 Box Score

  • SS Ronny Mauricio 1 for 5, R, K .280/.333/.348
  • 3B Mark Vientos 1 for 4, R, K .248/.312/.394
  • 1B Chase Chambers 4 for 4, 2B, 2 RBI .299/.342/.433
  • Juan Uriarte 2 for 4, 2B, RBI, K .174/.198/.283

Looks like Chambers has caught fire after hitting his first home run of the season of the season. Mauricio has been also heating up, as has Vientos, as of late, which can help Columbia’s tough .212 batting average.

Holderman is an interesting arm, a right handed starter who sits around 92-94, but has been a late bloomer due to multiple injuries. Megill and Moreno are both hard throwers, and guys to watch moving forward as potential future bullpen arms.
