AAA: Lehigh Valley IronPigs (14-11) 6 vs. Syracuse Mets 8-16) 3 Box Score

Syracuse came up short against Lehigh Valley on Tuesday night, but a few of the Mets’ prospects contributed to the scoring. 2017 second round draft pick Mark Vientos scored a run, 2021 15th round draft pick Wyatt Young got a hit and scored a run as well. The 22-year-old has worked his way up in the system quick and is impressing with a .352 average with Syracuse.

After a strong outing last week, Thomas Szapucki struggled on Tuesday. He threw just four innings and allowed three runs on six hits. He did strike out four, but took the loss for Syracuse to fall to 0-2. Right-handed pitcher Eric Orze pitched smooth on Tuesday, allowing just two hits and one earned run, striking out two in two and two/thirds innings pitched on Tuesday night against the Iron Pigs.

AA: Binghamton Rumble Ponies (7-14) 4 vs Hartford Yard Goats (11-11) 2 Box Score

Binghamton came out swinging on Tuesday night, collecting four runs on eight hits. Alvarez and Baty each had a hit, along with Mangum, Sanger, Vasquez, and Ashford. Ashford, 2019 sixth round draft pick was two-for-two on Tuesday with a run scored. Vasquez homered in the third and collected two of Binghamton’s four RBI’s.

Right-handed pitcher Jose Butto looked very good on Tuesday night against the Hartford Yard Goats. He allowed just one run on three hits and one walk over the course of four and a third innings pitched. He struck out seven. Right-handed pitcher Yeizo Campos came on in relief and pitched well as well. He gave up just one run on two hits and two walks and struck out one. Combined Binghamton’s pitching accumulated 11 strikeouts on the night.

The Mets drafted Matt O’Neill in the 20th round with the No. 598 pick in the draft. The 24-year old from New Jersey has gotten off to a slow start in 2022 with the Brooklyn Cyclones, however looked strong on Tuesday night against Aberdeen. He was 2-for-3 with two doubles and was the carrier of the lone RBI on the night for Brooklyn.

Brooklyn starter Junior Santos was lights out on Tuesday night. The 20-year old from the Dominican Republic pitched five shutout innings in his fifth start of the 2022 season. He was 0-3 coming into Tuesday night’s game, but took a no decision as Brooklyn’s bats went down quiet and didn’t support their starting pitcher. Nolan Clenney came on in relief for Santos in the sixth and struggled, allowing three runs in two and two/thirds innings pitched to blow the save.

Low-A: St. Lucie Mets (15-7) 3 vs Palm Beach Cardinals (9-13) 1  Box Score

The St. Lucie Mets came away with 3-1 win over the Palm Beach Cardinals on Tuesday. The Mets came out swinging hard, accumulating 12 hits as a club. Carlos Dominguez and Justin Guerrera (2021 20th round draft pick) both homered with Dominguez hitting two and he now leads the Mets minor leagues with seven on season.

Mets prospect Alex Ramirez continued to look very strong. Ramirez was 4-for-5 with a double and improves his average to .358 on the season. He has hits in 17 of his last 19 games he’s played in.

  • LHP Nathan Lavender (W, 3-1): 3.1 IP, 3 H, 1 BB, 3 SO, 0.75 ERA

Right-handed pitcher Robert Colina went 2 2/3 innings in his season debut, but pitched well during his outing. He gave up just one run on two hits and one walk, with three strikeouts. Left-handed pitcher Nathan Lavendar, drafted in the 14th round of the 2021 MLB draft pitched very well as well and picked up the win for St. Lucie. He struckout three and gave up no runs on three hits in three and a third innings pitched. He has a very impressive 0.075 ERA ERA over 12 innings of relief.

Gomez hit 97 mph in his full season and stateside debut.
